Waypoints to GPS now beta 3
More than a year ago I made the first version of the Waypoints to GPS add-in available. Basically, it makes uploading waypoints and pushpins to your GPS possible using a simple extra command in your MapPoint menu and a simple interface. Technically, it uses a COM port on your computer to transmit NMEA commands to your GPS.
There were a few bugs and limitations in that first version, most of which has been solved by now. The first version had a limited number of points and when dealing with huge numbers of points it looked like it was frozen. Also, the real name of the waypoint, depending on your GPS capabilities, is better shown. Still, there remain things to do, like support for uploading routes, a better installation method, automatic detection of communication ports, storing settings in the registry, and so on.
The source code can be downloaded from my web site to make improvements, to learn something or to use it in your own freeware projects. My source has been used by Jayson Harshbarger to help him create his nice application "Coordinate Exchange for MapPoint".
Further development will only occur when enough rainy Sundays are coming to the Netherlands.

Please add your email address to the email notification list if you have not already done so. You will be informed about new updates and it boosts my ego to see people using my add-in.
