Hi,

I'm new to Mappoint and really need some help.

The application I need to create needs to have a mappoint map on a webpage where the location and status of the pushpins is updated based on data which is being updated at regular intervals in a linked database.

Can anyone tell me how I can do this, eg how can I have automatic updating of the mapped data from the database appearing in real time on a webpage

Yes in theory its do-able programmatically, but it is against the EULA. The standard 'desktop' version of MapPoint has a EULA limit for web images of (I think) 100. The idea is you could use it for a few promotional maps or "how to get to our office" type of thing, but to explicitly prohibit the type of thing you're talking about.

Why? Well they have the MapPoint Webservices product for that.
Also to MapPoint Webservices' advantage the maps should be more uptodate, but my understanding is that it costs a lot more!

Ok, so how would this be achievable using mappoint web services?

I've never used it myself, but here's Microsoft's product page:

Notice in the reviewer's guide, they have a temporary user and pass for the service good for several weeks
