The applications are endless... you could ask What do you use Maps for? MapPoint's strengths include detailed road data and the routing API, so it's good for navigation integration with navigation systems. Also, it can be used to visualize the locations of vehicles or "fleet applications". In addition there is the built in demographic data and the ability to link to any data based on several geographics inluding zip/postal code, state, county etc. depending on the country and color code areas. I use MapPoint to map our major donors onto our 8 territories across the U.S. I color-code the pushpins based on giving level. This allows our field reps to work with the data as needed. They can: double-click on a pushpin to see who a specific donor is, map to a specific donor from where they are, see a list of donors in a given area (see concentrations of donors), draw a radius around an area and export the donor names back into Excel to use as a call list. The multi-colored pushpins transfers the names into different worksheets, based on their giving level. They love their MapPoint maps. |
