"Scheduled for release in June"

Of what year pray tell?

We are losing customers because our product's mapping element is so out of date (MapPoint 2004), being 1st quarter 2003 maps. Although many roads are 3-12 years out of date.

Plus, Microsoft refuse to acknowledge the existence of web-based applications on a LAN (MapPoint .Net on the internet or nothing).

Unless you have a giant company that can afford the cost and time to become a Certified Partner, you cannot get any kind of discount for MapPoint runtime licenses.

Plus they still haven't fixed the "avoid area" bug (i.e. it doesn't work) so we cannot redirect routes around road segments and maps are not editable.

Hi,

I'm not sure what they mean with "now", but MS say: "MapPoint 2006 Europe (international English) is now available." (Microsoft MapPoint Home)

I looked at the link which points to a place to buy the North American version and a note that says "Contact your local supplier" for the European version.

Since none of our suppliers seem to know of a release date and it isn't on MSDN subscriber downloads, I'd say they mistyped "..is now available.." when they should have said "..is not available.."

I saw someone post with an issue regarding "MapPoint 2006 EU" installation.

I think it might be available through some retail channel or another? I'm sure it is harder for me to get ahold of here in the US.

Microsoft try to limit the geographic distribution of MP2002 and 2004 - so there's a good chance its the same with 2006. Eg. Amazon UK would refuse to ship to North America.

I see that Grey Matter (based in the UK) have it for about GBP200:

(most of the editions, eg. Fleet Edition are order-only, but the retail version is there available for sale if you scroll down).

GreyMatter shipped MP2002 Europe to me a few years ago.

You should have seen from my Signature footer, I'm in the UK. So there's no reason for me not to be able to get MapPoint EU 2006 - hell, I can get the USA version easily enough.

I checked a shop here at: Het Computerwinkeltje: Big in Books and Software and as you can see the say it is in stock. Site is in Flemish but you will understeand the most importand with a little trouble. Maybe you can order it there ? Eventually by email ?

Bought a copy from our supplier who now has it.

The maps are still wildly out of date.

Roads that have been closed for years are still shown as through roads

Hardy Road, SW19
All Saints Road, SW19 - halfway along.



I'm told that some of these roads were closed to traffic twelve years ago.

And as promised, the avoid area bug is still there...

wide range of manufacturers including yours. It is important to note,

data is made available to manufacturers and the time that this data is
introduced in the marketplace. Indeed, if your suggestion requires an
actual change be made to the database, please be aware that the
product containing that change will not be available until a future
release. Updated products are for sale according to the product plans
of your system manufacturer or developer. We make every effort to
ensure that our map data is fresh, accurate, and up-to-date by
employing full-time staff in more than 50 offices throughout Europe
and 50 offices in North America. However, we also appreciate
conscientious drivers such as yourself who take the time to tell us
that we might need to make a change.

You are welcome to send us additional suggestions in the future, using
the Driver Feedback web site at NAVTEQ . Please fill
out and submit the on-line form the next time you encounter a
disparity between the real world road network and your product's
representation of it. We will gladly investigate your requests
accordingly.
