Will Map Point work for this application?

I'm looking for map software to help with my irrigation system winterizations. I now export customer card data with identifiers from my accounting program into Excel. This gives me a list of customers and addresses by geographic area of my town.
I would like to take this a step further by ending up with a printable map with numbered pins corresponding to my customer list.

I started doing this by hand- typing in each address in map quest then placing a number on a separate map. It seems pretty simple to do this with software and I hope someone has already done it.

Sooooo after all this, did I make any sense of what I would like or need?? Do you know where I should be looking?

Any help would be appreciated.

data Wizard

Just go to Data- Import Data Wizard.
Will bring in your excel file along with column headers. Separate address, city, state and Zip Code, name them that for simplicity. That's it.

I've purchased MapPoint 2004 and have had no trouble importing and mapping my customers addresses.
I haven't been able to figure out how to change, or assign a number to the pins marking the spots. All I have is a map with 200 pins on it.
If I show the ballons they run together in areas with multiple customers in the same area.
If I could resize the ballons and only list my primary key number I might make it work.
I would like to send my service techs. out with a map where they could see a location and be able to reference my customer information from some sort of unique identifier.(number?)

Any help?

Thanks
Jim

Sorry I don't quite get it. I did assign a primary key (customer #) but don't know if or how I can replace the push pins with those numbers. I'm trying to print a map with the numbers on it. The information is there if my service crew all had lap tops to retrieve the information, but they don't.
