| Willing to Pay for a Way to... I inspect mortgaged property for about 120 banks. Month after month, when ever someone is behind in their payments, I am sent to inspect the property to see if it is occupied, and it's condition. Over the past 6 years of using MSST, I've accumulated about 6,000 pushpin locations on a master map that I use. I don't go to all of them every month. Only to about 500 each month. Most are Route and Box number type addresses, where I placed a pushpin on my master map with the exact location, using my GPS. Or when I get an address that maps out automatically, I'll move the pushpin based on my GPS to the correct side of the street that it is on, or move it down the street a few hundred yards to it's exact location. The thing is, if I imported that same address using Excel, it will NOT route to my existing pushpin, but rather it will create ANOTHER pushpin back in the same position it thinks it is located. Then I end up with two pushpins on the same street for the same address. Most of my pushpins are route and box addresses. Currently, I have to paste the address in the Find window, then when it comes up, I click on the Place/Data tab, and hit find again, and then it will match the address to my previously placed pushpin. I have to do this one at a time for each and every address. It literally takes hours and days to do this manually. What I would like, is for Excel to import to my existing pushpins so that I don't have to do this manually for every address that I've already been to and marked. How much would this cost to have someone find a way to do this? |

Streets and Trips doesn't have a programming interface, so you are likely to have a long wait. After positioning your pin, you could find the new coordinates from Streets & Trips, then save it to your Excel worksheet so that Streets & Trips loads it properly. MapPoint (yes it costs more) has a programming interface that could be customized to handle this kind of thing. Richard

Could you please go into a little more detail about how to save a coordinate BACK to Excel. I know how to import, but I don't see a way to export pushpin locations to a spreadsheet. Does MapPoint allow importing to existing pushpins? If so, I'll just buy it. If not, how much would someone charge me to make it match existing pushpins? $270 bucks for MapPoint is a steal if I can get it to match to existing pushpins. I would save that in time, during my first day! |

You would have to look up the pushpins - eg. using the Location Sensor. However, John Meyer's Pushpin Tool will export pushpins to Excel including coordinates. http://www.mapping-tools.com/pushpintool for our sales links (Eric also has sales links on this site) Richard
