WiMax Clear Service in Chicago

I signed up for WiMax service from "Clear" (formerly Clearwire) last week as my wife got a new phone and switched to a shared data plan which messed up my Blackberry tethering capability... (we save $60 but I'm now spending $40 per month for Clear).

Anyway, the speeds are pretty good wherever I've tested it so far --

Clear service at Home --

Compared to Home with DSL service from AT&T over Wi-fi router --

Clear service at Hindsale Corner Bakery close to train station --

Compared to Hindsale Corner Bakery free Wi-fi --

Clear service at Hinsdale Starbucks close to train station --

Compared to Hinsdale Starbucks Wi-fi (the upload here is quite impressive!) --

Sprint 4G service at Hinsdale Starbucks close to train station (download here is insane!) --

Clear service at a business location near downtown Clarendon Hills --

Sprint 4G service using HTC EVO at a business location near downtown Clarendon Hills --

Clear service at Chicago Union Station down in the middle by Snuggery --

Sprint 4G (same network as Clear) using HTC EVO HotSpot, but it's acting erratic --

Re: WiMax Clear Service in Chicago

As you have clear..ly shown the Clear service sucks, your atnt and starbucks pings are much better. Clear has bad latency.

Re: WiMax Clear Service in Chicago

The lag doesn't bother me as I'm not doing gaming, it's more important to me that e-mail attachments and the like download/upload fairly quick. I can't be stuck trying to upload a 10 MB file for half an hour, have it fail and have to try again, etc. as I would sometimes with Sprint Blackberry 3G tethering. In that sense the Clear service is an enormous improvement.
