zip codes within a shape or radius

Hi All,
I have done very little work with MapPoint. What I have been asked to do is get all zip codes within a given radius.
I do know how to do the shape, etc but, how can I get all zip codes within that radius.
Your help will be most welcome and appreciated.
Thanks,
Roy

Zip codes within radius

There is a shareware package called ajimZip (Google will find it) that has a distance calculator that will do just what you are looking for. You can download a demo (Nevada data only) to try it. Go to tools->distance calculator. You can export the list to a text file.

To export zip codes within a given radius:
1) Draw your radius shape (as you have already done)
2) Use the Data Mapping Wizard to map a variable by zip code.
Data -> Data Mapping Wizard
Map Type = Shaded Relief
Data Set = Add Demographic data to map
Data Fields = Population 2002, None, Zip Code
Legend = accept defaults
3) Select your radius shape
4) Right click -> Export To Excel

You will get a workbook containing a worksheet with the variable you selected (in this case population 2002) and the corresponding zip code. This is a bit of a workaround because you don't really need the population data but it does give you the zip codes within the radius.

Keep in mind that you are getting zip codes whose centroids fall within your radius shape. Therefore zip codes that are partially within the radius shape may or may not be included in the export.

Best of luck
